These games are the ultimate realization of that John Carmack quote where he said the stories in videogames should be like the stories in adults films: a flimsy narrative framework to get you into the production and nothing more, because at the end of the day you’re only here for the explosions and the revelries.
The one thing that I’ve always found endearing about the Just Cause series is just how unpretentious and honest it is about its intentions.
